And so longing throbs like a sickness in small, unacknowledged gestures like the careful folding of a would-be lover’s T-shirt or a juicy, bleeding pomegranate (recalling, perhaps, Call Me By Your Name ’s peach). Luca Guadagnino’s queer romance might seem like a reference point, but that film’s swanky Italian villa is a world away from Mehrab’s, with his precarious restaurant job and out-of-credit mobile phone. Ráda na tu zemi vzpomínám a byla bych ráda, kdyby si Gruzíni uvědomili, že vlastním pokladem je vlastní kultura, a to včetně akceptování těch, kteří by ji rádi (re)prezentovali, ač třeba jinak sexuálně orientovaní. Jako jo, někdo může lamentovat, že scénář se nevyhne pár klišé, některý postavy jsou takový prkenný, ale tenhle film o tomhle tématu a v týhle zemi, to je potřeba hodnotit trochu z větší šířky. Je úžasný, že takovej film vzniknul, i když to neměl lehký (a nemá to lehký, hodně mě mrzí ty násilnosti kolem premiéry filmu v Tbilisi a Batumi v těchto dnech... ). A pokud Levan Akin říká, že film začal dělat v reakci na (násilně rozprášenou) první pride v Tbilisi v roce 2013, tak klobouk dolu a držím jim palce. PS: Přesto všechno mě to úplně nalákalo, abych se tam zas vypravil!
